Senior University at the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) has exhausted the 50 places available for first course in the first two days of registration, which ends next October 10.
The University of Elders is a non-formal education program, three years.
This academic offer is aimed at people who are more than 50 years, regardless of academic qualifications held.
Classes start Oct. 4.
Francisco Martinez, Vice Chancellor for Student and University Extension, says the University of Elders provides the opportunity to go through university classrooms to many people who have not had a chance to do it before.
It is also a training program that allows graduates to update knowledge, the wide range of subjects they offer.
The curriculum of the University of Elders is divided into three academic years.
Each course has a workload of 30 hours, of which 20 are in theory and 10 practical or complementary activities.
The usual schedule is two evenings a week, from 17:00 to 20:30.
The training program is high in areas related to science and technology.
Other subjects may be enrolled in human biology, languages, computers, Spanish, mathematics, geological heritage or relationships with banks.
Senior University began in the UPCT in 2003.
Since then we have graduated five promotions.
The satisfaction rate is very high among students, according to data arising from surveys conducted by the Office of Quality.
In addition to the University of Senior Citizens, Permanent Classroom UPCT supply and supervised works.
The deadline for requesting one of the 120 seats in the Aula Permanente begins on the 15th of September.
Permanent Classroom is in collaboration with the Department of Social Services.
The subjects offered are: Archaeology, Culture of Cartagena and its surroundings, Introduction to media and notes on health through the Academy of Pharmacy.
It also offered 40 seats in the Orchards of Leisure, which are developed at the experimental farm Thomas Ferro.
