Some thirty international experts gather today and tomorrow in La Manga del Mar Menor for the latest applications of wireless technologies for telemedicine and modern industry.
The espcial, researchers and Spanish and foreign, participate in the third international workshop of the European Association for Signal Processing (EURASIP) that hosts the UPCT.
This meeting, which opened this morning at the hotel Galúa of La Manga del Mar Menor, brings together specialists in the field of radio-detection technologies wireless (RFID).
The event will feature the latest developments and research in this technology, which is experiencing a breakthrough in recent years and has a variety of applications.
The radio-detection technologies allow wireless reading smart tags from a distance.
These labels contain useful information on products, as the manufacturer or the lack of cables precio.Por and ability to communication between electronic devices, is being applied increasingly in areas such as distribution of goods, medicine, agriculture or industry.
One of the most likely domestic applications is expanding its use in supermarkets, which are set to replace bar codes and automate the payment without the need of objects or products for electronic readers.
Mobile telemedicine This is just one of many applications that are currently working in this field.
The meeting also explains the recent experience in mobile telemedicine systems for the elderly, another application of this technology that allows monitoring faster and more convenient for patients by sending the data through wireless transmission systems.
The workshop also offers presentations on the use of signal processing techniques and low-level development for the efficient operation of these devices.
The engineering group UPCT telematics has been involved in several national and regional projects on these technologies, and recently one of its researchers, Professor Maria Victoria Bueno Delgado, presented his doctoral thesis in this field.
The workshop began with a talk by Javier Vales, professor UPCT, Markus Rupp, a researcher at the Technical University of Vienna and Jose Maria Molina, representing the School of Telecommunication Engineering.
