Most argue on a survey that one of the reasons is the distance of bus and train nearly half of the students at the Polytechnic University of Cartagena used car assiduously to attend different campuses and one third used the bus, according to a study conducted by Professors Eva Tomaseti and Laura Martínez Caro.
For this report were interviewed over six hundred freshmen.
18% of students ensures that uses different bus lines in Cartagena, while 16.4 per cent routinely turn to the coach between Murcia and Cartagena.
Nevertheless, and tenor of the responses of college students, the study recommends expanding the number of stops in the city of Murcia, considering different routes.
It also warns that would be highly desirable to further promote the use of this mode of transport to extend the regular line between the cities of Murcia and Cartagena to other populations "defining direct bus or route."
Regarding the bus from Cartagena, the study by two professors at the Faculty of Sciences of the Company should also increase the routes that pass through the vicinity of the former Seamen Training Barracks, as the only line that makes the Today is 'Icuebus'.
Another advice is reflected in the report is the creation of a bonus weekend that could be used by students who reside outside of Cartagena return to their homes during the weekend, have tests or carry out work on Saturdays group over the weekend in Cartagena.
The student survey also shows that one in three used their own car to go to the Polytechnic University of Cartagena and 17 percent go regularly sharing a car with others.
The study notes that their arguments for students to use the car when traveling to the campus are the least travel time, flexibility in hours and not having to wait.
Note that a majority of students report that one of the reasons for car use is the distance of the stops on its study centers.
Just over ten percent of college students use the train to get around and for the most part do so using the bonus train.
Students are demanding more services and times best suited to their needs.
The study also recommends that information campaigns to increase public transport to persuade students to use.
Finally, only one in ten students go to the UPCT walk and the number of those who do bike is almost negligible.
