The Autonomous Community, through the Regional Housing Plan 2009-2012, has undertaken to promote the improvement of the livability and accessibility in Cartagena, and to check the progress of this initiative, the general director of Planning and Housing, Antonio Navarro, accompanied by the Town Planning, Joaquín Segado, have visited the refurbishment works being carried out in common areas of 80 homes in the Paseo Alfonso XIII.
This project is being developed through the line of support for rehabilitation of buildings put up by the regional executive and the goal is to provide citizens with more comfort and energy efficiency in their homes.
In particular, development works carried out in the homes of Paseo Alfonso XIII, provides for the adaptation of the facades and roofs for the adequacy of the thermal envelope of the building, and the adaptation of a stairlift to provide mobility to people with disabilities.
The Regional Housing Plan, which includes 17,000 performances, provides support for up to 70 percent of the budget, which can be a maximum of 12,000 euros.
As for the works being carried out with this plan include actions to improve the structural safety (roofs, walls, etc..) Improving energy efficiency (solar panels, double glazing, plumbing and electrical renovation ) and actions to eliminate architectural barriers (ramps, elevators, stair lifts).
As highlighted Antonio Navarro, for the Department of Public Works and Planning, the line of support for the comprehensive rehabilitation of buildings constitutes a priority to improve the quality of life for families that make up the communities of owners, which is also supports subsidies for the refurbishment of private homes.
