Recuperaverde project, developed by the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) has led to the creation of three companies in gardening and landscaping this year.
These new businesses launched by professionals who have received specific training in conservation and restoration of historic gardens through friendly technical environment.
Recuperaverde is a project of one year, part of Empleaverde Program, an initiative of the Biodiversity Foundation for the Improvement of employment and the environment.
It is funded by the European Social Fund.

The project, which began last October and has one year, provides a hands-on training focusing on business creation and improvement of the quality for the benefit of workers, businesses and the environment.
The project manager, Jesus Ochoa, Professor of Horticulture Research Group Mediterranean, said that overall objective is to promote and enhance employment and professional qualifications of workers in the strategic sector of gardening and landscaping.
At the same time, it promotes other related sectors such as services, construction and, indirectly, tourism.
Another important aspect is the suitability of these spaces for cultural activities and education related to the environment.
Ochoa said that through this initiative we have come a short but intense way in which we have favored a professionalization of workers throughout the Region of Murcia, who have to adapt to new patterns of sustainable production and environmentally friendly. " Moreover, "we have encouraged the creation of companies in the Region of Murcia and self-employment in the sector, reaching almost 100% of the forecast," he adds.
The project has been very well received and is sure to continue paying off, even when it is finished, as project manager.
"We tried to sensitize workers and population of the importance of historic gardens in terms of environmental and sustainability," said Ochoa.
Also, "we have encouraged environmental innovation of enterprises and sectors that currently have high growth potential," he adds. To this effect, various training, business consultancy, a study of historic gardens in the Region of Murcia as a basis for historical-cultural understanding and environmental awareness and a campaign.
As part of this campaign is planned a journey that taught in Cartagena next October in gardening and landscaping experts.
Assistants, architects, technical architects, engineers, landscape gardeners and basically receive a basic technical guide for conservation and restoration of historic gardens of Murcia.

Recuperaverde has developed its activities in Lorca, Murcia, Jumilla and Cartagena.
