The Minister of Public Works and Planning, José Ballesta, Deputy Mayor of Cartagena, Agustín Guillén, and the Councillor for Citizen Security, Javier Herrero, today inaugurated the roundabout to access and works of asphalt and road improvement RM-320 (from tailings at Portman Road) and RM-322 (from 320 to Escombreras station), a performance that improves access to the Valley of tailings, one of the major energy centers in Spain.
These works, carried out by the regional executive, improve access to the refinery and tailings railway station, which runs parallel to the road RM-322.
Crossbow has reported that the work, which involves an investment of 675,749 euros from the Autonomous Community, they enhance access to the industrial zone of the Valley of tailings, increasing driver safety, especially for workers who come daily to industrial core, and provide access to the various industries in the area.
Also, Ballesta explained that the works have included strengthening the firm RM-320 highway, which runs from the road to Escombreras Portman Road, and connects to the access road to the refinery and the railway station Escombreras, RM-322, which runs parallel to the track.
Both are characterized by high heavy vehicle traffic, so it's a performance that will go down the road transport professionals.
Thus, this improvement, including the proceedings of the Monitoring Group of the Measures for the Integral Development of the Industrial Zone Escombreras Valley, Guillen reiterated, will improve road safety in this industrial center, providing access to different businesses in the area and promoting economic and industrial development in the region.
In addition, Crossbow has stated that this year also completed the refurbishment of the access road to Escombreras RM-F46.
He underlined that the regional government is working hard to promote the development of the industrial chemical and energetic highlight of the region, the Valley of tailings, which is planned a total investment of 257.6 million euros in the coming years, contributing significantly to the economic development of the region.
RM-320, future-oriented
Finally, Crossbow has reported that the Community will pursue further action in order to achieve a greater fluidity to the exit for highway access to the Valley of tailings.
The Director of Roads, Jose Guijarro, present at the opening, explained that the highway would be RM-320, and the works correspond to the capacity expansion.
At the moment studies are being conducted and that such expansion could be completed, if it is approved in the next two years.
