El Castillo de la Concepción has undergone various transformations throughout history, in classical times, a temple dedicated to Aesculapius, the Islamic and palace in time with the construction cristina by Alfonso X de la Torre del Homenaje, inside the old castle, and other changes made to this day.

The budget for the implementation of this work has been of 398,000 euros from the Directorate General of tourist infrastructure of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, with Azuche the contractor and architects, drafters, and Alberto José Manuel Chacón Ibero.
This work involved the excavation of these architectural spaces and the adequacy thereof, and generate new access to the Torre del Homenaje, adding an elevator to be located in the old courtyard and connected to the reception and promoting exit of visitors through the southern part of the new rooms.

These new spaces have musealized incorporating the medieval history of the city, which until now had not been made known to visitors, and also updated musealization Tower of Homage and water tanks, with a budget of 285,000 euros funded by the Directorate General of tourist infrastructure of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
