The regional government has authorized the creation of two new integrated centers of vocational training in Cartagena, located in secondary education institutes and Admiral Bastarreche Jiménez de la Espada.
Their operation in the 2010-2011 academic year marks an important step in consolidating and expanding the network of integrated centers, which reached the eight centers, and more specifically in the region of Cartagena, which has three, to join the two new to the Carlos III.
Reference families from both schools correspond to two major production sectors for takeoff and economic growth in the region, such as Hospitality and Tourism, in the IES Jiménez de la Espada, and the Maritime and fishing in the IES Admiral Bastarreche center that aims to become a benchmark for the variety of programs related to this sector.
Integrated centers provide a coordinated range of different modalities of vocational training for employment and education.
These are centers that may include training activities aimed at students, employed and unemployed workers and employers and trainers.
They also have other functions, such as information and career counseling, relationships with business and with the productive, educational and technological innovation, teacher training, prevention of occupational hazards and the evaluation and accreditation of professional qualifications.
