The director of the Institute for Youth, Veronica Lopez, accompanied by the Councillor for Youth of the City of Cartagena, Ruth María Collado, today visited the young people involved in the field of work environment of Cartagena.
For 15 days the volunteers, aged between 18 and 26 years, made efforts to conserve and recover the coast of Cartagena and the Mar Menor.
The 24 participants come from different regions, like Andalusia, Aragon, Castilla y León, Castilla La Mancha, Catalonia, Extremadura, Galicia, La Rioja, Madrid, Valencia, Murcia and Basque Country.
During your stay you perform tasks of production and maintenance of native plants in the municipal nursery in Cartagena, recovery efforts and improvement of natural areas and traditional agricultural varieties, marking and clearance of natural coastal areas, islands and around the Mar Menor beaches coastal cliff retreat of invasive alien flora Regional Park Salinas y Arenales de San Pedro del Pinatar and cooperate in monitoring populations of cetaceans and seabirds aboard a vintage yacht.
The work camp started July 12 and runs until the 26th of this month.
During this period, he also will be cultural activities and leisure activities such as guided tours to various museums in the city of Cartagena, trips to concerts of the festival La Mar de Músicas, creative workshops, social evenings, sports activities, games and water activities.
For the year 2010, the Summer Youth Institute Youth earmarked 419,000 euros, 47,000 euros to the Fund brings Mediterranean.
Other partners are the youth councils of the municipalities where they develop the various camps and labor camps.
