Councillor of Celebration, Florentina Garcia Vargas, accompanied by other colleagues in the municipal corporation, as the aldermen of Decentralization, Nicholas Angel Bernal, District Camarzana Isaiah, and Education, Josefa Maroto, chaired the closing ceremony of the XVIII Saturday Folk Festival La Palma, that a year has offered a tour of the traditions and culture of our land, through workshops and above all, music and folklore.
Over a week, from 3 until 10 July, has developed a program that highlighted the performance of the orchestra and Nuevo Mester de Juglaría, besides the participation of folk groups from Albacete, Ciudad Real, Huesca and of course the hosts, La Palma, offering traditional music of their land.
Cultural activities have focused on this issue in the history of date palm and the popular culture of southeastern Spain, the cultivation and use of it.
As for the workshops, have focused mainly on the environment, with the completion of a biological gimkana and talks on perfumes and essences.
In his last days, the festival closed with a performance by folk group Cartagena City of La Palma and, at dawn, the dew Al flamenco pop put the finishing touch to a new edition of one of the most traditional competitions of the municipality.
