The Municipal Hall of the Byzantine Wall welcomes from April 17 the project 'Mural XxX', which revolves around the concept of palimpsest, and is part of the exhibition 'LibrObjeto', inaugurated by the mayor of Culture, David Martínez Noguera on April 5 to mark the month of the book.
Mural XxX is a continuous activity from April 17 until its closure on May 19, when David Martínez, together with the Ce3 Cultural Association, will present the finished work in the Night of the Museums of Cartagena.
More than thirty artists will spend this month to give shape to this 10x2 meter mural project.
This mural project revolves around the concept of palimpsest, those ancient writings in which, due to the scarcity of scrolls, the soft support was reused to try to erase the previous one, to rewrite another subject, intermingling different texts and creating a hodgepodge of visual information from different data.
Thus, the canvas will change as artists gradually work it through the days, and with it they will transmit an idea about the creative and dialogical reality of the current artistic moment, of physical, vital, cultural and at the same time universal palimpsest.
The visit time for the Byzantine Wall is from Tuesday to Friday from 10 am to 2 pm and from 5 pm to 8 pm and on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 am to 2 pm, staying closed on Monday.
