The Municipal Group of Citizens in Cartagena announced today that it has reached an agreement with the Government of Cartagena on the Municipal Budgets of 2018 and has guaranteed the support of the three councilors of the orange formation to support the project that the Executive is scheduled to discuss in the extraordinary plenary session of next May 3.

The spokesman for Citizens in Cartagena, Manuel Padín, has justified this support after the signature by the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón of a commitment agreement in which it is detailed that 1,250,000 euros of financially sustainable investments are destined to comply with the Participatory Budgeting Program 2018 in a detailed manner and undertake the pending works to be executed by the Neighborhood Councils of 2017;

another 1,250,000 euros of financially sustainable investments will go to neighborhoods and councils not including here the investment for the Plan of Neighborhoods and County Councils of the Autonomous Community and including in any case the measures already agreed in the Table of the Fenix ​​Manifesto that the local Government Consider priority for the comprehensive recovery of the neighborhood of Los Mateos and its surroundings, and improvements and the expansion of the Greenway of Barrio Peral, among others.

In addition, the signed text requires the immediate execution, within a period not exceeding three months, of the amendment of Cs to the 2017 budgets relating to the improvement and refurbishment of Beatas Street and the amendment of Cs to the budgets of 2017 relative to the conditioning of the accesses to the Santa Lucía Hospital.

Through the agreement, the Government undertakes to admit the Citizens amendment for the works of a parking deterrent in front of the Santa Lucía Hospital and to begin its execution within a period not exceeding three months, and the amendments made by the Citizens Group to the budgets of the Agency for Local Development and Employment of 2018, with special emphasis on those measures that encourage the increase of aid for the long-term unemployed;

that is, two new employment programs, and the reinforcement of the Employment Observatory.

In the event that the budget projects of ADLE and the Casco Antiguo society are finally included in the draft General Budget that is submitted to the Plenary for approval, the commitment assumed by the Mandate Government should be guaranteed respect for the competencies of the Directive Council of the ADLE and the Council of Administration of Old Town, taking into account especially the favorable report of the secretary of the Plenary.

For its part, the local Executive is committed to diligently manage the actions in relation to the Casco Antiguo Municipal Society, ensuring the execution and completion of their projects.
