The Association of Renal Patients of Cartagena (AERCA) will collaborate in the process of assisting patients with chronic kidney disease, through the program "Patient Active Expert" after approving the plenary session of the Regional Assembly the initiative jointly presented by the Popular Parliamentary Group and Citizens
The regional deputy of the PP, Domingo Coronado, has put in value the aforementioned program initiated by the Autonomous Community in 2006, it is about empowering the patient expert and that their experience helps newly diagnosed.
For Coronado, this collaborative form in the field of health, helps new patients to make their own decisions about the disease, to strengthen their adherence to medical recommendations and their own treatment.
The Deputy Speaker of the Popular Parliamentary Group has referred to the existing Health School in our Autonomous Community where the "Active Expert Patient" program is developed not only with renal patients, but also with those affected by heart disease or diabetes.
Domingo Coronado has mentioned the result that this program has had in other autonomous communities in relation to patients with type 2 diabetes, where the visit to the specialist has been reduced by 33%.
