The traditional flashmob will open the activities of the International Day of Dance in Cartagena.
For the third consecutive year the Department of Culture of the city has prepared a program of activities to commemorate this day, with the collaboration of schools, academies and dance professionals of the city, under the coordination of the director of the Dance and Movement Studio It has its own name, Margarita Amante and the support of the Performing Arts Platform, directed by Lito Campillo.
This Monday, April 16, the councilman of the Culture area, David Martinez, has presented the program of the International Day of Dance in Cartagena, which is held every year on April 29, since it was established by the Dance Committee of the International Theater Institute of Unesco in 1982, in order to attract attention to the art of dance.
This year, the program includes a set of activities to be held on April 27, 28 and 29 and May 11.
In these acts will participate most of the people who practice or teach dance in Cartagena, along with some guests from outside.
The councilor of the Culture area, David Martínez, stressed that there will be in total more than 600 dance students and 47 professionals who will dance in more than 80 dances of all types: Latin, flamenco, classical, contemporary and dance oriental, among others, all of them collected in the program that has been presented this Monday.
The program includes flashmob, which has been made a mark of this program, which will be held on Friday, April 27, as the opening of the acts, and which will take place at 8:30 p.m., in the Plaza de San Francisco, and whose choreography will be You can see and continue to learn in the Flashmob link.
On Saturday 28 in the afternoon and Sunday 29 in the morning there will be a dance marathon, with hundreds of participants in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento.
That same Saturday night, at 22:00 hours, a Gala of professionals who will perform in the same place is scheduled.
The acts will conclude on Friday, May 11, at 9:00 pm, with a Gala at the Luzzy of the Professional Conservatory of Dance of Murcia.
The program that illustrates this edition of the events has been designed by the artist Marta López Castellanos.
After the presentation of the activities, the assistants have been able to see, in the lobby of the Consistorial Palace, a bachata performance by the dancers Alfonso and Monica, recognized international artists of Latin dance.
The mayor of the Culture area, to finish the act of presenting the activities, wanted to highlight some words of the International Dance Day message, which will be read throughout Europe.
A few words from the artistic director of the Batsheva Dance Company, the Israeli Ohad Naharin, who say: "Dance can be sublime, even if it is far from perfect.
We have to resist the conservative and conventional thinking that has its roots in much of education and dance training, and put aside old ideas to get new and better ideas.
