The Local Police of Cartagena in collaboration with the Directorate General of Traffic has announced that it will carry out from the 16th until the 22nd of April a campaign to monitor and control the speed limits.
The Road Safety Law and the General Circulation Regulations establish the regulations regarding the generic and specific limits of speed, as well as the maximum achievable when a vehicle advances and the safety distance that must be kept between them.
The breach of these rules is classified as serious or very serious infringement, sanctioned with fines of 100 to 600 euros.
Article 379 of the Criminal Code establishes that "anyone who drives a motor vehicle or a moped at a speed exceeding sixty kilometers per hour in an urban road or in eighty kilometers per hour in an interurban route to the legally permitted one, shall be punished with the penalty of prison from three to six months or to a fine of six to twelve months and work for the benefit of the community from thirty-one to ninety days ".
Likewise, this article indicates the deprivation of the right to drive motor vehicles or mopeds for a period of one to four years.
