During the next Plenary Session of the City Council, the MC Cartagena municipal group will present a request to request the Socialist Government to urge the CARM, and specifically the Directorate General of Cultural Property (DGBC), to include in its budget an item of expenditure destined to restore and recover the old Central Cinema, giving it a cultural and / or formative use, as proposed by the Cartagena training during the Mayor's Office of José López.
In this sense, the person in charge of presenting the initiative, Ricardo Segado, recalled that after two years in which the ownership of the property is in the hands of the regional government, which paid one hundred thousand euros more than what the City Council would pay, " the building remains closed and without any movement ".
Similarly, the mayor has lamented that "recently we have seen, as announced a few days ago the Director General of Cultural Heritage, Juan Antonio Lorca, the Central Cinema of Cartagena continues paralyzed, without any project and much less budget" .
Regional blockade of culture in Cartagena
Faced with this situation, the councilor of MC has ensured that it is a clear sign that it was "a regional outburst or tantrum, bought quickly and running without a plan or idea about its future, inventing studies on possible uses that never
they finish. "All this, according to Segado," with the purpose of extending the agony of this property that was going to be destined by the mayor López to the Municipal School of Theater or to complement the current Conservatory of Music, in need of a denied extension also by the Autonomous Community ".
Finally, Ricardo Segado said that in view of this panorama of cultural and educational blockades "well known by the people of Cartagena, it is urgent that the local government push and continue to push for it to finally invest in the Central Cinema".
