The Local Police of Cartagena conducted, during the past weekend, 15 tests to detect drugs in driving, of which seven turned out to be positive.
The Traffic Police of the Local Police of Cartagena denounced, during the last weekend of April 7 and 8, seven drivers for driving after having consumed drugs and / or narcotics.
The Criminal Code provides for drivers who circulate under the influence of alcoholic beverages, toxic drugs, narcotics or psychotropic substances prison sentences of three to six months, a fine of six to twelve months or work for the benefit of the community of thirty-one to ninety days, and, in any case, that of deprivation of the right to drive motor vehicles and mopeds for more than one and up to four years.
With these drug controls, Local Police of Cartagena seeks to educate drivers that driving under the influence of drugs increases braking distance and decreases the reaction time, decreasing physical and mental abilities, being the cause of numerous traffic accidents.
