This morning, the councilor of the Municipal Group MC Cartagena, Ricardo Segado, has transferred the intention of his training to request the backing of the Plenary to urge the City Council so that, within the scope of its powers, activate the necessary steps to attract the celebration of the World Race regatta for its dispute in Cartagena's waters.
Segado has taken the floor to emphasize that, as former head of the Sports Department until the breach of the Government's pact by the PSOE, "I would not have hesitated a single moment to fight for this sporting event to arrive in Cartagena".
The mayor of Cartagena has considered that "Cartagena and its port are unique scenarios, in addition to having the resources and requirements so that the World Race of sailing, recently suspended due to instability in Catalonia, can be celebrated here".
"A test that would bring sports tourism and wealth," he argued.
The mayor has continued praising the characteristics of the municipality to face an "event of this draft and scope".
"That is why we will take an initiative in this regard to the next ordinary plenary session."
"The nearly twenty thousand signatures collected are an endorsement more than enough to commit ourselves and choose to get the organization to look at our waters."
Finally, Ricardo Segado has asked the regional government, against his usual way of proceeding with Cartagena, to turn to the World Race and value the benefits that result from their organization.
