The Municipal Group MC will present a motion at the next Plenary to urge the local government to solve the lack of lighting in the Plaza Puertas de la Serreta, recovering the lighting from the spotlights that gave light to the facade of the Artillery Park .
Likewise, the initiative requests that the trees of the area be pruned, partially, so that the light of the lanterns can reach the Plaza.
The proposal will be defended by the councilor of the formation Cartagena, Ricardo Segado, who will direct the motion to the councilor of the area of Municipal Services.
In this regard, the mayor has said that "in recent times the complaints of the residents of the Artillery Park area, as well as the citizens who spend at night by the recently renamed Plaza, in the absence of full lighting center of Cartagena ".
Urgent solution to increase security
The reason for this lack, according to the residents themselves, is the switching off of the spotlights that are embedded in the ground, next to the Artillery Park and at the foot of each tree, obscuring the Plaza and subtracting monumentality from the historic building.
Also, "the growth of the trees that adorn this space, acting as a screen", explained Segado, "overshadows all that remains below them".
The MC councilor has continued detailing that "the streetlights are above the trees, which causes the entire Plaza at night to be dark, becoming a cave that causes fear to whoever passes by".
Finally, Ricardo Segado has considered that the solution to this problem is not to prune the trees, at least not the final resource, "but to turn on the spotlights, which is urgent to increase security in the area and reassure neighbors and passers-by. "
