The Popular Party has registered a motion in the Regional Assembly with which it intends that the municipality of Cartagena be involved and take the necessary steps to attract the race Wolrd Race to the city, said the regional deputy, Domingo Segado.
A nautical competition, organized by the Oceanic Navigation Foundation of Barcelona, ​​whose edition of 2019, will not be held due to the climate of political instability that Catalonia is experiencing.
Segado said that in these circumstances we are facing a unique opportunity for the city of Cartagena, in collaboration with institutions and organizations in the city and with the support of the regional government, to establish contacts that allow the city to host the next edition .
And he stressed, the great social interest that has awakened among Cartagena the possibility of being the official headquarters of the race with a massive membership in social networks.
The regional deputy of the PP believes that a sporting event of this magnitude would be a great revulsive, from the tourism point of view, for Cartagena and the entire Region
Segado has shown that the city has proven experience in the organization of nautical competitions of great size and international significance.
And he recalled the successful celebration of the Med Cup race between 2008-2011.
He also stressed that the departmental city is an ideal enclave to be the starting point and arrival of a competition of these characteristics for its natural harbor, infrastructures and complementary tourism resources that accentuate its appeal, he said.

The Barcelona World Race is a round the world sailing with two crew members per boat, non-stop held every four years, since 2007;
