The Ramón Alonso Luzzy Cultural Center will be the venue for the XXX Exhibition of School Theater in May, in which 19 schools will present 20 plays of varied genres such as comedies or musicals, as well as adaptations and original works directed to a public that covers from Infantile to Baccalaureate.
The closing will be next June 1 at the El Batel Auditorium
The municipal theater workshops, promoted by the Department of Education of the City of Cartagena for 30 years, have as a general objective to help the development of verbal and physical expression and to stimulate memory capacity and mental agility while improving diction
This year 405 students participated, which together with 50 teachers and 4 monitors will show the work done during these months.
Schools that wish to attend as a public should request this assistance at programasteatro@ayto-cartagena.es, indicating the day and work they wish to see, the school year they will attend, the number of students and the number of teachers.
"With theater, self-esteem is increased, you learn to respect and live together as a group, to know and control emotions, you discover discipline and perseverance at work, as well as learning to cope with the public.
There are many benefits to develop this art and that is why we make a great effort to bring it to all schools ", explained the Councilor for Education, David Martínez.
Since the Department of Education has also said that the theater serves to strengthen academic tasks such as reading and literature, update children in subjects such as language, art and history;
help your socialization;
improve your concentration and attention;
transmit and instill values;
promote reflection;
and encourage the use of the senses, among other aspects.
"The theater classes are socializing and therapeutic, the group work, the psychomotor exercises and the contact between the classmates are the basis of the dramatic education.
The theater is an inexhaustible field of fun and education at the same time and should be considered as an experience that is acquired through the game, "said David Martinez.
He also highlighted the concern of the educational community, specifically that of parents, "who are involved in the activity making sets and costumes", as well as the teachers and the theater group managers who "with their work and enthusiasm achieve every year that the theater group of your school culminates with its representation for the public ".
The appreciation of the Department of Education has also addressed the group of theater monitors that "with their indications, corrections, adaptations and scenic wisdom, have achieved that these heterogeneous groups at the beginning of the course of children and adolescents are a team with a common interest at the end of the program and feel proud of the final result, "they concluded.
