The Peña Flamenca de Cartagena Antonio Piñana announces the National Contest of Cante by Cartageneras to promote the flamenco heritage of Cartagena.
The contest is organized by the peña and has the collaboration of the City of Cartagena, the Autonomous Community of Murcia and the Polytechnic University of Cartagena and the participation of other entities such as the ISEN and Cartagena Port of Cultures.
This National Contest of Cante is recovered by Cartageneras that had seven editions throughout the tenth century. It was also carried out during the decades of the 60s and 90s when important singers such as Bernardo de Los Lobitos, Enrique Morente, Canalejas took part of Puerto Real, Manuel Cepero, José Palanca, and Curro Piñana.
Already in the first edition of 1924, contest Guerrita, El Mendo and El Rampa (grandfather).
With the contest the organizers intend to bring the Cartagenera to cantaores and to the public a Levantine-Mining flamenco stick of undoubted beauty, which deserves to be sung with greater assiduity.
In the contest, may participate as many cantaores and cantaoras, amateurs or professionals, which comply with the provisions in the bases.
The inscriptions can be made on the website of cartagenajonda.com until May 15.
AWARDS
The following prizes are established: Prize 'Pearls to Millares Antonio Piñana', endowed with 2,500 euros and trophy, 'Cartageneras Concha La Peñaranda' Prize, endowed with 1,000 euros and Prize 'Cantes a Compás Cartagena Jonda', endowed with 800 euros.
LETTERS COMPETITION
The National Letter Contest of Cartageneras Ginés Jorquera is also held.
This contest will be to promote the production of new lyrics of this flamenco palo, while paying homage to Ginés Jorquera, author of the lyrics of flamenco mining and many other cantes.
The prize is endowed with 500 euros and a trophy.
