With the aim of bringing the results of university research to the market, the Polytechnic of Cartagena leads the European MERLIN project for the promotion of entrepreneurship and the creation of companies in the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) sector.
Funded with a million euros in charge of the Horizonte2020 program, the project will give entrepreneurship training through 43 workshops that will be held in the next two years in major European capitals such as London, Berlin, Warsaw, or Budapest.
In Spain, UPCT experts will give courses in Madrid and Barcelona "to provide researchers with tools to know the potential of the results of their R & D and to know that they will not be alone, that there is an entire ecosystem entrepreneur in Europe and opportunities to find financing, "explains Diego Alonso, project coordinator.
Thematic workshops, online materials and international conferences will provide researchers with the knowledge, skills and network to innovate and generate business models led by the market to exploit or support the commercialization efforts of their products.
MERLIN (Methodologies for Researcher Led INnovations) is part of the Startup Europe initiatives, another European entrepreneurship project in which the UPCT participates, and Innovation Radar, both with the support of the European Commission.
Its partners include BluSpecs Innovation, Poznan Science and Technology Park, Civitta and St John's Innovation Center.
