The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, today announced before the media her refusal to allow opposition groups to prepare the budget of the City Council and urged these groups to submit a motion of censure.
"It is the Government's power to prepare the municipal budgets.
We are a dialogue government and we are willing to accept amendments and modifications, but we will not allow them to impose a budget that is not ours, "said the mayor.
Ana Belén Castejón has also criticized the initiative of the Popular Party against municipal budgets because, she said, "we gave them a draft to be worked on.
The PP gave us its budget 24 hours in advance before debating it in plenary, but we have delivered it with plenty of time. "
"It's easy to criticize, but working on budgets is not so easy and opposition groups are not doing it.
I refer to the facts, since they have not presented a single proposal ", denounced the mayor.
In addition, he recalled that "the Popular Party left us a ruined City Council.
It seems incredible to me that those who left us a debt of 180 million euros, which in two years we have managed to reduce to 100, are so bold as to criticize this budget. "
