The councilor of the Area of ​​Sustainable Development and Public Function, Francisco Aznar, accompanied by managers and heads of Local Police, Fire, Social Services, Infrastructure and Communication, attended this morning at the Víctor Villegas Auditorium in Murcia to the final conference of coordination of the Emergency exercise of National Interest "Region of Murcia 2018", which in a very important part will be developed in the municipality of Cartagena with the participation of national, regional and municipal troops.
It is a joint-combined exercise that every year organizes the Military Emergency Unit (UME) and on this occasion will be the Murcia Region.
Between April 23 and 27, "Región de Murcia 2018" will simulate the consequences of two major earthquakes that will affect different municipalities in the Region of Murcia.
This will allow putting into practice the joint reaction of the specialized local, autonomous, state, companies and organizations, etc.
that would intervene in a similar case.
Today's Conference was attended by the Government delegate in the Region of Murcia, Francisco Bernabé, the Minister of the Presidency and Development, Pedro Rivera, the second head of the UME, Major General Manuel Gimeno, and the deputy general director of Prevention, Planning and Emergencies of the General Directorate of Civil Protection and Emergencies, José Ruiz.
In plenary session, and later in work groups, details of the execution, logistics and coordination aspects of this exercise in which more than 3,000 people will participate have been specified.
"Joint Exercise Murcia Region 2018" "Region of Murcia 201" will be developed on the assumption of two earthquakes.
The first will affect the towns of Murcia, Alhama de Murcia, Alcantarilla, Molina de Segura and Torres de Cotillas;
the second will cause simulated consequences mainly in Cartagena and in the industrial zone of the Escombreras Valley.
This will force the authorities of the Region of Murcia to request the declaration of emergency of national interest to the Ministry of the Interior and the deployment of emergency equipment and specialized municipalities and other public administrations, as well as the Red Cross and other agencies and companies .
The main objective of the "Joint Exercise-Combined Region of Murcia 2018" will be to exercise the conduction of emergency situations ll (regional level) and lll (state level) by the authorities of the Region of
Murcia and the General Headquarters of the UME as the nucleus of the Operational Management of an emergency of national interest.
It will also allow the different specialized services in emergencies to jointly practice the action procedures established in the different territorial, special and state civil protection plans, such as the SISMIMUR and the State Plan for seismic risk, among others.
In short, "Región de Murcia 2018" will be a great opportunity to practice coordination among all the authorities and services involved in order to respond, with greater agility and efficiency, to a
similar emergency.
