The World Theater Day will be celebrated again in Cartagena with a special program to take the theater to the street.
On Tuesday, March 27, the Manifesto of World Theater Day will be read, and from April 6 to 8, the activities will begin, this year, in Plaza San Francisco.
The program includes some novelties such as: turn off all the lights to focus all the lights on the stage, unify the dance with the theater and merge theater with rap.
Cartagena joined this global initiative of UNESCO in 2016 and from the Department of Culture, together with the Performing Arts Platform of Cartagena continues to support this celebration to raise awareness, governments and institutions, of how valuable it is this art for citizenship.
This is how this Wednesday, March 21 was manifested, in the presentation of the program that the Councilor for Culture, David Martínez, has made together with the president of the Performing Arts Platform, Lito Campillo.
The councilman of Culture, David Martinez has highlighted the varied programming and the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the birth of the actor Cartagena, Isidoro Máiquez, as well as the novelty, which appears on the poster, to turn off all the lights to focus all the lights on the stage.
The events that will take place in the port city during the next days from Tuesday, March 27, when the World Theater Day Manifesto will be read for the first time.
The manifesto will be read by the Cartagena-born actor Eusebio Lázaro, who has enjoyed success in film and television at the Teatro Romano.
The capacity will be limited with prior accreditation.
Between 6 and 8 April, the events will be centered in the Plaza San Francisco, according to the mayor of Culture, to facilitate the public that can enjoy and attend more events.
On Friday, April 6, at 6:00 pm the Municipal School of Theater of Cartagena organizes an open class.
The greatest concentration of activities, whose undisputed protagonist will be the theater, will pass on Saturday, April 7.
A talk "Maiquez and modernity in interpretation", by the professor at the University of Murcia, Cesar Oliva.
The talk will be at 12.00 in the Palacio de Molina.
In the afternoon at Plaza San Francisco there will be a theater for all audiences and all tastes.

performance with, 'Confessions and whispers';
dramas with, 'Mujeres de Lorca', 'Teatro?';

On Sunday, April 8, the diversity of theatrical activities continues with a children's and youth programming.
During the events of this day the students of the Cinema School of the Municipal School will record the audience and the actors who are representing the scenes.
