The Roman Theater Museum will be promoted throughout the country through the football teams of Cartagena.
This will be possible thanks to the Atonoma Community of Murcia will provide an additional 25,000 euros to the Roman Theater Museum Foundation of Cartagena.
The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, presided over this Monday, March 12, an extraordinary meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Roman Theater Foundation of Cartagena, composed of the City of Cartagena, the Autonomous Community, and the Cajamurcia Foundation.
In the meeting the proposal of the City of Cartagena, through its Department of Sports, to promote the Roman Theater touristic through the sponsorship of football in Cartagena has been addressed.
Coinciding with the tenth anniversary of the celebration of the European Year of Cultural Heritage, from the patronage they thought it convenient to reinforce the presence and visibility of the Roman Theater outside the region of Murcia.
For this promotion the Autonomous Community reinforces with 25,000 euros the economic endowment of this year, which was 160,000 euros.
A good part of these 25,000 euros will go towards sponsoring the futsal teams of the city that play in important national categories and participate in competitions such as the Spanish Cup.
The proposal is similar to the one that is being done with FC Cartagena, who wear the logo of the Fundación del Teatro Romano on their official shirt, through which the image of the theater has greater visibility and promotion.
The rest of the budget increase, for national promotion, will be applied in Internet, social networks, in all the supports that the council uses for the cultural and tourist promotion.
The reason why the national promotion is reinforced is due to the fact that Cartagena receives more and more tourists from the rest of the Spanish communities.
The data from these first months of the year show that 65 percent of the visitors were nationals and the rest were foreigners.
Proceeding 42 percent from the United Kingdom and 10 percent from Russia, followed closely by French and Germans.
