The study indicates that it is the only area of the Ensanche de Cartagena in which, without the pruning, the risk threshold could be exceeded
The student of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) Sergio Moreno has completed the degree in Agri-Food Engineering and Biological Systems with a study on the allergenic potential in the green areas, parks and streets of the Ensanche de Cartagena, concluding that it is an area of low risk.
The streets Wssell de Guimbarda, Avenida Reina Victoria and paseo de Alfonso XIII, next to the Los Juncos park, are the only places in the area that at certain times of the year, and if the appropriate pruning is not carried out, they could pose a risk to People suffering from allergy.
Plataneros, mulberry trees, cypresses and olive trees are the trees that can cause the most problems to the neighbors of the area due to their number and size, according to the work directed by Encarna Conesa and Manuel Munuera.
"We must improve the management of green areas, from its design, taking into account the effects on health and care and cleanliness required by the trees," say the authors of the research.
