Nearly a thousand people march in Cartagena in support of the world strike of women (08/03/2018)

More than a thousand people have held a march on the morning of March 8 to support the global strike of women.

International Women's Day is commemorated worldwide on March 8.

For this reason, at 11:00 hours the march left from the Plaza de España to the Consistorial Palace, where at 12:00 hours, the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, read a manifesto on the town hall door.

Women from all walks of life, politicians, ages or nationalities, have united under the slogan 'If we stop, the world stops', with which they claimed equal rights for women.

Long live the struggle of women! Our grandmothers fought, our mothers fought and we fought!

o Together we stop, together we move forward !, have been some of the slogans chanted along the entire route, accompanied by a batucada and carrying banners, until you reach the Plaza del Ayuntamiento.

Already in the staircase of the Consistorial Palace, the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón and other members of the Municipal Corporation, received the women and men who supported them.

The mayor has read a manifesto in support of the cause.

Castejón has highlighted the demonstration that, "the sound is our opportunity, creating multitudinous actions that allow us to continue advancing", and stressed that "to contribute with specific and strategic actions to the social elimination of all forms of oppression and support mutual to achieve the vital empowerment of each woman ".

In the manifesto the mayor praised the struggle of the pioneers as: in 1830 Concepción Arenal, 1860 Emilia Pardo Bazán and in 1930 Clara Campoamor and wanted to remember, especially Carmen Conde.
