The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, presented the draft budget this afternoon to all the opposition municipal groups, to which she reported that this document represents an increase of 2.7 percent compared to 2017, what the total budget of the City will be 193,842,450 euros, compared to 188,748,551 euros last year.
The draft prepared by the government team contemplates an increase in investment of 27.50 percent, from 6,760,440 euros to 8,619,749 euros.
Current transfers (subsidies) increase by 826,001 euros, which represents a growth of 4.46 percent.
In the chapter of income has foreseen a rise in the collection by indirect taxes of 4,963,064 euros due, mainly, to the imminent entry into force of the transitional rules, which will unlock more than 13 urban projects worth 130 million euros .
The commitment of the government team since the Mayor took office has been to strengthen social services and attention to neighborhoods and councils, which have been abandoned for more than twenty years.
This translates into a clear budget commitment, thus facing the commitment of the mayor Ana Belén Castejón.
For this reason, the amount allocated to Social Services has increased by 606,527 euros.
In addition, the most substantial increase in this budget is brought together by the Department of Decentralization and Citizen Participation with 3,409,982 euros, which will allow the works chosen by the neighbors to be carried out in the Participatory Budgeting process of 2018, as well as the increase agreed with all the presidents and presidents of the municipal neighborhood councils.
Also, it is clear the commitment to new technologies, which also committed the government team, with the opening of the Office of the Smart City, which will be allocated more than 200,000 euros.
Another objective that is going to be fulfilled is the beginning of the process for the elaboration of the new General Plan of Urban Planning, reason why the council of Urbanism has seen increased its budget in 639,000 euros.
Finally, highlight the increases of the Department of Education, the adequacy of the plot where the new school of La Aljorra, and Sports.
The latter will see an increase in its budget due to the decisive commitment of the Government team to finally open the central court of the Sports Palace and with the construction of the Pozo Estrecho and La Palma football fields.
Among other projects, it should be noted that the budgets include a heading for the final remodeling of the Santa Florentina Market and others for the improvement of Equality policies.
