For more than fifteen years, the literary workshop of the Popular University has been celebrating, uninterruptedly, a meeting with an author on the occasion of International Women's Day.
Creators such as Mar Navarro, Isaías Lafuente, Jeannine Alcaraz and Paloma del Sol, among others, have shared their time and their reflections with the students of the Popular University throughout these years.
On this occasion, on Tuesday, March 6, the guest writer was the poet Vega Cerezo, who presented her latest book of poems, 'Lo Salvaje'.
After a talk with the instructor of the 'Bazar de Letras', Isabel Hernández.
The author recited several of her poems, included in this work, and answered questions from the audience.
Among the attendees was the Councilor for Culture, David Martinez, who highlighted how these poems by Vega Cerezo draw the beauty and brutality of the world, leading the reader to interrupt the reading to remain silent and reflect.
Given the interest that awaited the meeting with the author and the contest, the Popular University has had to put a bus to facilitate the attendance of students to the aforementioned act.
Then the Act of the Jury of the March 8th Contest was read in the categories of Poetry, Short Story and Story.
According to the bases, the participants created their works with the motto 'Lo Salvaje' and were awarded: María Dolores Hernández, with the first prize and Marián Cifuentes, with an accésit in Poesía.
Joaquín Campillo and Ana Soto, first prize and second prize respectively in the category of micro fiction.
Ana Borrego with the first prize and María Dolores Hernández, with the second prize in the story.
Finally, the winners read their works before the audience gathered in the main hall of the House of Folklore.
