The streets of Cartagena will host next Sunday March 11 at 10:30 am the 1st Solidarity March against Childhood Leukemia, organized jointly by the Neighborhood Association La Loma de Canteras and the City of Cartagena, whose departure will take place in the Plaza de España and the goal will be set at the Cartagonova Esplanade and whose benefits will go entirely to project RECAIDA 0: Mathematics against Childhood Leukemia.
The presentation of the march was carried out by the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, the Councilor for Sports, Obdulia Gómez, and the president of the La Loma de Canteras Neighborhood Association, Carmen Llorca.
The mayor offered small touches of the figures of childhood cancer in Spain, and noted that each year "1,400 new cases of childhood cancer are diagnosed" unfortunately "in ages between 0 and 18 years.
He also specified that cancer is the leading cause of death by disease from 0 to 14 years in Spain, for this reason, said the mayor "research is paramount, because only with knowledge can you curb this scourge."
Castejón invited the public to participate in this solidarity march with the aim of contributing in a healthy way to improve the health of children.
He also explained that the funds collected will go to the Precipita Platform of the Spanish Science and Technology Foundation, which is leading a project to improve the risk classification of patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia by means of mathematical algorithms.
The goal, according to the mayor is "to anticipate resistance to treatments and possible relapses."
For its part, the mayor of Sports thanked the initiative to the Neighborhood Association La Loma de Canteras and said that the march will have two routes, one of 9 km and another 3.5 km and that the price of the numbers is 3 euros .
In addition, he stressed that the Department of Sports will put the appropriate means for the activity to proceed normally.
Registration for the march can be made at the Wsell de Guimbarda Sports Pavilion from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. or from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., or on the website www.lineadesalida.net.
Also, the collection of numbers may be made from 8 to 10 March in the pavilion from 11 to 13 and from 17 to 21 hours.
The organization has informed that everyone who participates can enter with their free number to see FC Cartagena on March 10 and can enjoy inflatables and music from 11 am in the vicinity of the pavilion.
In addition, you will enter the draw for a shirt signed by the players of Fútbol Sala Cartagena Plásticos Romero.
