Citizens this weekend held an event at the Roman Theater on the occasion of Women's Day on March 8 in which participated the Secretary of Institutional Relations, Lola Jiménez, the national deputy Citizens, Miguel Garaulet, the journalist and director of the Observatory for Equality of OMEP, Isabel Franco, and the mayor of Cs Cartagena, Ana Rama.
Citizens Councilor contributed his municipal experience in the City Council, and explained that in the last ordinary session all municipal groups, except CTSSP-Podemos that abstained, supported to include in the next budgets a study for the implementation of different points conciliation family, intended for children registered in the municipality between 3 and 16 years of age during non-school hours.
These points should make it possible to reconcile the work schedules of mothers and fathers with the attention to minors, in a place where their basic and educational needs are met, as already exists in other cities such as Murcia or Santander.
Also the creation of a seal of quality and bonuses for companies that facilitate family reconciliation.
In addition, in terms of sexist violence, the mayor of the orange formation explained the work being done by his Municipal Group to propose in the Equality Council (which is working since September 2017 in the Municipal Plan I Against Gender Violence) , "the incorporation of a set of measures to improve the early detection of sexist violence in the municipality".
Rama reported that it is "a package of actions that aims, among others, to better shape the response of the City of Cartagena in those most vulnerable profiles: women over 60, those who suffer a cultural barrier or those who live a situation of extreme exclusion ".
The councilor of the orange formation, Ana Rama, has reported that Citizens intends that the future plan to combat sexist violence includes a specific program for the Senior Centers, the reinforcement of the role of Social Services and the creation of the figure of the intercultural mediators in these departments.
For the mayor of Cs, "it is important that our social workers increase even more the training for the early detection of cases of sexist violence, this is already contemplated in a general way the draft of the presented plan, but we want to deepen and that the more vulnerable profiles, so it is convenient to promote a training program for the early detection of Gender Violence in the Tele-assistance service and in the Home Help service in the City of Cartagena ".
In addition, Rama believes it is essential "to further develop women's participation at the municipal level, empowering women's networks to avoid isolation and also increase the training of local police officers so that they are more prepared to face a service in the cases of sexist violence waiting for the creation of a specialized group, we must remember that almost 80 percent of women who suffer some type of aggression of this type do not report it. "
In addition, Ciudadanos wants to continue developing the Protocol of Collaboration and Coordination between the State Security Forces and Corps and the Local Police for the Protection of Victims of Gender Violence, led by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEM) and that was driven by Cs in Cartagena.
The Councilor for Citizens is convinced that "the City Councils are a key actor in the war against violent machismo and equal opportunities between men and women since they are the administrations closest to the citizen".
And Ana Rama warns, "this plan or any other work table that is convened will be useless if there is not the necessary budgetary appropriation behind to specify and execute the actions to be carried out."
