The Ministry of the Presidency and Development has completed the improvement of the road RM-E26, which connects the delegation of Perin with Cuesta Blanca and the RM-E22, which runs from Cartagena to Isla Plana, which will benefit the more than 103,000 vehicles that circulate annually through this regional route, of which more than 8,000 are heavy.
The works have involved a regional investment of 120,000 euros.
The general director of Roads, José Antonio Fernández Lladó, visited the infrastructure, in which ditches have been cleaned and a layer of regularization applied and another of firm reinforcement of hot asphalt agglomerate, "with which we improved the characteristics of the layer of rolling and regularize the grade of the track ".
In addition, "the shoulders have been covered with concrete to prevent the growth of weeds that hinder visibility and allow pedestrian traffic where there is no sidewalk," said José Antonio Fernández-Lladó.
Likewise, the horizontal and vertical signs have been renewed and repainted, with the aim of improving the road safety of the section.
Likewise, a complementary action has been carried out, by constructing a section of masonry wall to hold the slope next to the road.
The director explained that the objective is "to avoid dragging and, in addition, to expand the platform to ensure that the shoulders have continuity and a uniform width."
Fernández Lladó recalled that communications have been improved in Cartagena with the renovation of highway RM-314, which links Los Belones with Atamaría, in which 2.4 million euros have been invested to optimize access to tourist areas, and the highway RM-F57, which connects the Cartagena districts of La Aparecida and Los Salazares, to improve driving and safety through this regional route.
