The Cartagena Media Marathon celebrated its 25th anniversary this Sunday, March 4.
The popular race has become a classic of the popular tests of the city, proof of which are the 1,200 runners who took part in the race, of which 662 entered the Cartagena Media Marathon goal and 480 did it in the test of the 11 km.
To celebrate this anniversary, the Department of Sports delivered a commemorative medal, as a souvenir, to all participants in the event.
The athletes covered the 21 km with exit from the street Ronda de La Union and goal in the Athletics Track.
The winner of the men's event was Iván Hernández, from Automenor, who invested a time of 1 hour 10 minutes and 23 seconds.
The second place went to Ramón Martínez, from the same club, and Mateo Pesquer completed the podium.
In the absolute feminine category Maria Isabel Pelegrín, of the Mobel Automenor, won with a time of 1:26:08;
in second place came Sandra García-Pagán, from CD Runtritón Cartagena, with 1:27:28;
while the third place went to Beatriz Ríos, from Grupo Alcaraz, with a time of 1:30:59.
The 11 km test would be awarded in the male category, Alberto González, (Automenor) and in the female Elena Alcantud, from the CD Runtritón Cartagena.
The Councilor for Sports, Obdulia Gómez, accompanied the athletes at the start.
Gomez was also at the finish line to receive the runners and later handed out the trophies of the Cartagena Media Marathon, among which was the commemorative medal, as a souvenir, to all the participants of the race.
