The Agrupación de Granaderos Marrajos paid homage to Martín Álvarez, war hero of the Spanish Armada who fought with honor against the English in the naval battle of Cabo San Vicente.
The recognition took place this Sunday, March 4, at the Plaza de los Héroes de Cavite.
The homage has been celebrated by the Marraja Brotherhood for 31 years and in this edition was celebrated the 252th anniversary of the birth of this brave marine, promoted after his deed, and since then he has always given his name to an active ship of the Navy.
The act of homage to the sailor took place in the Plaza de los Héroes de Cavite and Cuba at 12 noon.
During the ceremony, as usual, the distinctive merit and perseverance crosses were handed out to members of the group, and it was concluded honoring those killed by Spain.
