The Entity for Wastewater Treatment and Treatment of the Region (Esamur), will urgently undertake the repair of the underwater section of the Cala Reona emissary, valued at 118,957.50 euros, as demanded by the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón .
These works are part of the 12 projects that Esamur plans to execute this year for a total investment of 871,445.50 euros.
This investment is made after the Follow-up Commission that was held on January 24 in which the mayor demanded that the 900,000 euros that were to be invested between 2015 and 2018 be executed and that they were not executed due to discrepancies and differences in interpretation.
The only improvements that were carried out in that period in the treatment plants of Cartagena amounted to 100,000 euros and remained without investing nearly 900,000 euros.
In this regard, at the end of the meeting, the councilor of the area of ​​Public Services, Citizen Participation and Celebrations, Juan Pedro Torralba, said that the City has managed to Esamur is responsible for the repair of the underwater emissary of Cala Reona, which will cost 120,000 euros, a work was very important because it presented a breakdown that was urgent to repair and if Esamur did not attack it, we would have to undertake the Town Hall.
After the unblocking of the existing situation has been formalized today, in the Monitoring Committee that has been held, an agreement that will allow the execution of twelve projects that include the repair of the Cala Reona outfall, as well as the following works:

Repair of the underwater section of the Cala Reona outfall.

Improve the control of the process, ammonium-nitrate probes from the centers.
Amount: 68,556 euros.
New system of mud heat exchangers in the sewage treatment plant (EDAR) of Cabezo Beaza.

Substitution of the Cabezo Beaza WWTP centrifuge.

Conversion of another centrifuge from normal to G2 in Cabezo Beaza EDAR.

Placement of the pretreatment deck in the Mar Menor South WWTP.

In addition, the agreements reached will allow three centers to be included in the existing collaboration agreement as facilities that can be financed from the sanitation canon;
the submarine outfall of Cala Reona, the EBAR of Los Camachos and the EBAR of Santa Ana, which were not included in the agreement until now.
The incorporation of the Cala Reona submarine outfall is particularly noteworthy because it has a significant breakdown, which is urgent to repair and which, if not included, would have to be financed by the City Council.
At present, a series of structural deficiencies have been detected that jeopardize the proper functioning of the outfall and it is urgent to establish an annual environmental monitoring plan and the tasks of maintaining the pipeline both in its land section and in the submarine.
With the formalization of this agreement, these works will be carried out urgently and will be financed by ESAMUR.
In addition, the structure of the Monitoring Committee of Esamur, co-chaired by the mayor and the manager of Esamur, will be modified and is composed of 2 members of Esamur and 2 of the operating entity.
The idea of ​​the City Council, which is going to materialize in a new agreement, is to be co-chaired by the mayor and the manager of Esamur, but that is composed of 2 members of the City Council and 2 members of Esamur, so the concessionaire would be like invited to the meetings, with voice but without vote.
