The facilities of the Higher Technical School of Industrial Engineering of the UPCT will be the stage for the next 28 and 29 April, of the 6th Salon del Manga and the Japanese Culture of Cartagena: Cartagena will be Re-Manga.
As the organization has been able to advance, this year will have the presence of a youtuber of more than half a million subscribers, a 12-year-old girl performance that won the National Song Contest of the Madrid Manga Salon, as well as a exclusive exhibition of Harry Potter and the filming of a scene of Game of Thrones performed by dubbing actors Jon Snow and Khaleesi, among other activities.
The presentation of the multitudinous event has been carried out by the councilor of the area of ​​Culture, Education and Youth, David Martínez Noguera, who has been accompanied by the Director of the Institute of Cultural Industries of the Ministry of Culture of the Government of the Region of Murcia, Marta López-Briones;
the director of the room, Antonio Álvarez;
and the Head of the Student and University Extension Unit of the UPCT, Miguel Díaz.
Martínez has narrated that manga was born in the nineteenth century as a result of the combination of two traditions, that of Japanese graphic art and western comics, and that it is from the 90s onwards that it underwent a great international expansion ", after what has been become "a mass phenomenon", since there are "millions of people who enjoy this hobby" and have even made it a model of life.
Likewise, he indicated that for this edition more than 10,000 people are expected and "will come loaded with news, placing us as one of the most important in its category".
The mayor has emphasized that this is thanks to the Technical School of Industrial Engineering of the UPCT, "which will host this event and that will make Cartagena the center of education, culture and tourism."
For his part, López-Briones highlighted the joint work of all the organizers and explained that cosplay is not only disguises, but implies "taking on, investigating other cultures and making them their own" with the aim of referring to classics such as the Corpse Bride or mythical Manga characters ".
Diaz explained that the UPCT "has witnessed the growth of the influx of participation" that has been throughout the editions of this event, and recalled that last year welcomed 8,000 young people and not so young, "for what we recognize the work of its organizers ", has indicated.
He also said that they hope that "the result of this excellent organization", the campus of the UPCT Wall will continue to be the scene of Cartagena Re-Manga for many years.
Finally, the director of the show has emphasized the difficulty of profiting from a Salon del Manga like the one in Cartagena, with the activities and the price of the tickets.
"It is impossible and unfeasible and can only be done with the help of the City Council, the Ministry of Culture and the collaboration of the UPCT," he concluded.
