A total of 14 unemployed from Cartagena at risk of social exclusion are trained in masonry with a Community program (25/02/2018)

The students, who for a year will alternate theoretical training and paid employment, will obtain a certificate of professionalism that will enable them to work in the construction sector

A total of 14 unemployed from Cartagena at risk of social exclusion will acquire knowledge and skills in masonry for twelve months with a Community program that, through the alternation of training and paid employment, will help improve their options for access to the labor market.

This is the 'Innova 2m17' program that, for the third consecutive year, develops the collective La Huertecica with the support of the Ministry of Employment, Universities and Business, through the SEF, with the aim of facilitating access to the labor market to people with special difficulties of social and labor insertion, such as drug addicts, immigrants or people belonging to disadvantaged groups.

The initiative, which has a subsidy from the SEF of 216,160 euros, will prepare seven of these unemployed to carry out, for example, structures and partition walls with the specialty of Auxiliary operations of factory masonry and roofing.

The other seven participants will specialize in auxiliary operations of continuous cladding in construction, with which they will learn how to make cladding and tiling.

The general director of the Employment and Training Service (SEF), Alejandro Zamora, who visited on Friday, along with the president of La Huertecica, Diego Cruzado, to the participants of 'Innova 2m17', said that "training, especially if combined with work experience, it is one of the best tools we have to encourage people who are far from the labor market to find an employment opportunity that will help them lead a completely normalized life ".

These 14 students have three months ahead of theoretical training that, once completed, will give way to the eminently practical part of this training action consisting of effective employment.

To do this, they will be hired for nine months by La Huertecica to undertake the refurbishment and rehabilitation works of the drug treatment center that the entity serves in the port city.

Students who successfully pass all the modules that make up the program will obtain a certificate of professionalism that will accredit them to work in the construction sector.

Joint work

The Ministry of Employment, Universities and Enterprise, through the SEF, maintains with La Huertecica several lines of collaboration that allow it to intensify its actions in order to promote the social and employment integration of the unemployed who have greater difficulties to access the labor market .

This cooperation has allowed, for example, that this social initiative organization of Cartagena be one of non-profit organizations that this year has received a grant from the Community to employ six young people of Youth Guarantee for a period of six months.

Specifically, it has received 83,600 euros to provide these under 30 years of work experience performing works of general and social interest.

Likewise, La Huertecica receives funding from the SEF to develop training actions aimed at training unemployed people from disadvantaged groups in different professional areas such as cleaning buildings, plumbing or gardening, among others.

During this year, it will also develop projects for the social and labor insertion of unemployed people at risk of exclusion, with specific actions such as orientation, tutorials or different workshops.
