All options have the premise of keeping the station in its current location
The Cartagena High Speed Society, integrated by the three administrations (central, autonomous and local), will decide within four months the best option for the integration of the AVE in the city.
This was reported today after the first meeting of the Follow-up Technical Commission, held in Madrid, and attended by the General Director of Transport, Jos Ramn Dez de Revenga.
From now on, the Technical Commission will analyze the different alternatives, comparing their costs and deadlines, and whose premise is to keep the station in its current location for the arrival of high speed.
The study will include the necessary technical works for the remodeling of the Vctor Beltr station, which will adapt it to high-speed traffic and the requirements of the Mediterranean Corridor.
Based on the conclusions of this study, the Cartagena High Speed Society will choose this summer the alternative for the integration of the AVE in the city and then the informative study and the writing and execution of the subsequent projects will be developed.
The general director of Transport stressed that the arrival of the AVE to Cartagena "continues to advance thanks to the commitment of the Minister of Development, Íigo de la Serna, with the president of the regional government, Fernando Lpez Miras, so that this strategic infrastructure reaches the city in the shortest possible time. "
Ten de Revenga stressed that "the top priority of the regional government is that the AVE arrives as soon as possible to Cartagena", and pointed out that, for this, "we are going to focus all our efforts so that the projects can be matched".
