The festival Much More May of Emerging Art makes a call to participate in a special project of this ninth edition, 'Much More May for Sustainable Development Goals'.
This project is aimed at developing artistic creation actions within the framework of the festival around the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) included in the UN 2030 Agenda.
The call includes groups, associations, entities, companies, educational centers, as well as artists and creators who want to participate in the project.
The projects that are selected will receive a festival support of up to 500 euros.
The Councilor for Culture, David Martínez;
and the Councilor for the Environment, Obdulia Gómez, presented this Thursday, February 22, this open call emphasizing the sustainable nature of this edition of Mucho Más Mayo, whose motto is 'Interdependent, Ecodependent'.
Candidatures may be submitted until March 22 at the Department of Culture of the City of Cartagena (Calle Jacinto Benavente, 7) or email muchomasmayo@ayto-cartagena.es.
The councilman of Culture has underlined the commitment of the City of Cartagena with sustainability, as well as gender equality that has been working in previous editions.
On the other hand, Obdulia Gómez, has pointed out the "opportunity to raise awareness that the Mucho Más Mayo festival offers" and to curb climate change.
In addition, Ignacio Abad, member of the promoter group of Cartagena Piensa, has explained the importance of the theme of the festival.
"'Interdependent, ecodependent' to raise awareness that we are dependent on each other and that we depend on the environment," he said.
IX SHORT WEEK
Also, the councilors of Culture and Environment presented the opening of the short film call for the IX Short Week of Cartagena, which will take place on May 31 and June 1.
The person in charge of the Short Week, Ana Billabriga, explained that the object of this week is to show the works of filmmakers from Cartagena and other parts of Spain and create an atmosphere of dissemination and approach to the world of short films.
The projects can be submitted until April 16 and must have a duration of between 5 and 20 minutes.
Although the character of the sample is not competitive, all selected short films will have a net remuneration of 100 euros.
The shorts whose theme corresponds to the motto of this edition of the festival, 'Ecodependientes, Interdependientes', will be especially valued.
The IX Short Week establishes three sections of the sample: the Local Sample (Cartagena filmmakers), Regional Sample (of the rest of the Region), and Open Sample (all those that are not within the previous categories).
The screenings of the short films selected will last approximately one hour and a half and can be viewed on May 31 in one of the neighborhoods selected for this edition (Los Dolores - El Bohío - Barriada Hispanoamérica), and on June 1 in the Plaza San Francisco.

The Emerging Art Festival Much More May 2018 will celebrate its ninth edition between May 25 and June 3.
These days the city of Cartagena will host many artistic interventions developed by creators of all creative records.
This festival is developed under a set of experimental processes that interrelates emerging artistic practice, work with citizenship, artistic participation and cultural production.
