Citizens Cartagena wants to know what has happened with its initiative to rehabilitate the buildings known as Los Urrutias Nature Classroom to be used for activities that stimulate the local life of the town.
The orange training requested in March 2017 that the Government of Cartagena take the necessary steps for its reactivation, but since then little or nothing is known.
For the spokesman of Cs Cartagena, Manuel Padín, "the time has come to undertake its restoration, to dedicate it to activities of general interest, such as locating in it a Biogeological Interpretation Center of the Mar Menor, a Research and Studies Center, a Classroom of University Support, or a Residence, among other possibilities ".
The Group of Citizens has been in touch today with the president of the Association of Merchants and Businessmen of the Single District, Severo Sánchez, who considers it a crime that no administration is taking advantage of these facilities, which are now on the verge of ruin and pose a danger to pedestrians by detachments from its roof.
According to Manuel Padín, "we do not understand that facilities are being left to die that have a privileged location less than 25 meters from the Mar Menor and 500 meters from the Carmolí Volcano, that is, ideal conditions to train young people in respect to the environment and sustainable progress ".
Therefore, the orange training is preparing an initiative for both the City Council and the Community to take charge of its rehabilitation and implementation.
According to the municipal spokesperson "Citizens understand that the infrastructure of the south coast need urgent improvements, that public spaces bathed by the Mar Menor have to be a priority in the political agendas, these territories have to be alive all year, and this impulse must join the now finally undertake all administrations to restore the health of our salty lagoon, with the goal that the Cartagena coast is consolidated as a healthy, attractive regional and national tourist destination.
Pending tasks
On the occasion of the information published today by the newspaper La Opinion about the indignation and the investments that the residents of Los Urrutias have demanded from the administrations, the spokesperson for Ciudadanos in Cartagena has expressed that he shares "this boredom because almost from the beginning of the legislature in 2015 we have proposed and demanded measures for the deseasonalization of the Cartagena coast of Mar Menor but have fallen on deaf ears ".
In this sense, Manuel Padín, recalled that his group has taken to the ordinary plenary on repeated occasions proposals to promote the completion of the promenade of Los Urrutias by the Demarcation of Coasts and for the installation of five spas in this town, in Punta Brava and Estrella de Mar, also to promote concrete measures in terms of promotion and celebration of fairs and events and for the regeneration of the beaches before Holy Week arrives.
"If the promises and the plenary agreements are of no use, politics will no longer be perceived as a generator of public solutions for shared problems," the spokesperson for Cs Cartagena said.
