The traditional celebration of Thursday of Ash, of the Brotherhood of the Virgin of Charity of the Cartageneros Association in Madrid, took place in the Spanish capital this Thursday, February 15.
This celebration takes place every year the day after the Call, with the official start of the countdown of Holy Week in Cartagena.
To accompany these people Cartagena City Councilor of Culture moved, David Martinez, along with the Brother Major of the Cofradia California, Juan Carlos de la Cerra and the pregonero of Holy Week 2017 in Cartagena, Ginés Fernández.
The main act was the celebration of the Holy Mass in the Church of Santa Teresa and Santa Isabel, where a reproduction of the carving of the Virgin of Charity from Cartagena is venerated.
Both the entrance and the exit of the temple sounded the chords of the Plegaría de La Caridad and the traditional cartageneras marches, intoned by a tenor.
At the end of the Eucharist, in front of the altar dedicated to the patron saint of all the Cartagena people, the Salve Cartagenera was intoned by all the attendees, who filled the temple.
After the religious celebration, the assistants attended a dinner of brotherhood.
