The Isidoro Máiquez hall of the Municipal Auditorium of El Batel will host for the first time tomorrow Saturday, February 17, the opening of the Holy Week in Cartagena, from 20 hours.
The person in charge of proclaiming what is considered to be the oldest of the Cartagena traditions will be Ángel Julio Huertas Amorós, a great processionist and student of Holy Week.
Not in vain has he been a chronicler of the Cofradía California and is currently the president of his Art Commission.
His articles and books endorse him as a great connoisseur of the heritage and history of our Passion week.
In the act will also be delivered the title of Nazarene Mayor to Mariana Larios Andreu, a marabout that has been meaning for its commitment to Holy Week, as it is curator of the brotherhood, president of the Board of Ladies of the Virgin of Soledad, sister of the Sepulcher, collaborator of the Marraja Foundation and of the Basilica of Charity, and a restless person and delivered to the neighbor through the Charity Commission of the brotherhood, in which it stands out for its activity and participation.
The act will begin with the words of welcome of the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, which will be followed by the preamble and the nazarene by the president of the Board of Brotherhood, Manuel Martínez Guillén.
As it happened in the previous proclamation, that of Ángel Julio Huertas, will be illustrated with images and music of Holy Week.
At its conclusion the mayor will give him the title of crier and will impose a shield of the city in gold.
Next will take place the delivery of the title to the nazarene by the mayor next to the clasp of gold with the coat of Cartagena and the four brotherhoods.
Likewise, the traditional relay will take place with the holder of last year, María Jesús Moreno.
The act will end with the words of gratitude of Mariana Larios and the closing by Ana Belén Castejón.

The entrance will be open to all people who want to approach the Batel.
The ceremony will be broadcasted live on the internet, as on other occasions, through the municipal website and the municipal news channel on Youtube.
