The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, has received at the Palace Hall, this Wednesday February 14, the commanders of the three frigates who will participate in the Mediterranean in the operation of the NATO 'Sea Guardian': Francisco Javier Vázquez, of the Navarra frigate;
Kristoff Van Belleghem, of the frigate of the BNS Louse Marie;
and Nicolo Pisani, of the frigate of the ITS Euro.
The visit had a courtesy character, hours before leaving the port of Cartagena to the NATO maritime security operation.
Ana Belén Castejón had a brief meeting with the commanders of the three frigates, to, shortly after, show them the dependencies of the Consistorial Palace.
The operation 'Sea Guardian', as stated by the Commander of Frigate, Francisco Javier Vázquez, aims to send the message that NATO is present in the Mediterranean and provide security, "is an important operation for NATO because it is an operation against the terrorism".
The Spanish Navy will lead this operation that will last three weeks.
The 'Sea Guardian' is composed of three ships: the frigate Navarra, Spanish;
the frigate BNS Louse Marie, Belgian;
and the ITS Euro, from Italy.
