Cartagena will host tomorrow the joint meeting of the political bureau of the Intermediterranean Commission (CIM) and the members of the 'Panoramed' project, which will gather in the city about a hundred people, from nine countries in the area (Spain, Albania , France, Greece, Italy, Malta, Morocco, Portugal and Croatia) and 23 regions.
Among the attendees are seven regional presidents, six vice presidents, counselors, general secretaries and general directors of the aforementioned regions.
The CIM is an interregional organization of European and Mediterranean scope, to which the Region of Murcia belongs, constituted within the Conference of Peripheral and Maritime Regions and composed of 44 regions of nine countries.
Throughout tomorrow, Wednesday, the CIM will hold several previous meetings of the thematic working groups constituted by this organization.
Specifically, the Transport and Integrated Maritime Policy group, whose meeting will be opened by the Minister of the Presidency and Development, Pedro Rivera, includes sessions on transport, which coordinates the Autonomous Community, blue economy, fisheries and aquaculture and on the initiative for the sustainable development of the coast called 'Bologna Charter'.
For its part, the group of Territorial Cooperation and Macro-Regional Strategies will address the future of territorial cooperation in the Mediterranean.
On Thursday, February 15, there will be a meeting of the political bureau of the Intermediterranean Commission, which is the governing body of this organization, made up of 21 political representatives from the 44 regions that make it up.
The inauguration will be in charge of the president of the Autonomous Community, Fernando López Miras.
In this meeting, in addition to the members of the CIM bureau, the partners of the territorial cooperation project called 'Panoramed' will participate, led by the Spanish Ministry of Finance, whose purpose is the creation of a platform, in which ministries and regional authorities of 19 European states of the Mediterranean, with the aim of detecting challenges and challenges posed by coastal zones and designing common solutions that make sustainable the economic activity linked to tourism with the preservation of the environment, as well as maritime security.
