The main balcony of the Palace Hall will host tomorrow, Ash Wednesday, the traditional act of the Call with which the countdown of Holy Week in Cartagena officially begins.
MEETING OF THE GENERAL CABILDS
Previously, starting at seven o'clock in the afternoon, the general councils of the four brotherhoods will begin to meet in their respective venues, to take stock of the year and to agree to take the processions to the street.
The resurrected will meet in Palas street;
the marshes, in the alley of Bretau;
the Californios, in Calle del Aire, and those of Socorro, in the Real Sociedad Económica de Amigos del País.
All together, then around 8:30 pm, with their respective elder brothers at the head and the sounds of a brass band, they will go to the Town Hall, to communicate their decision to the mayor.
MUSIC AND THE STREET
The person in charge of announcing it and asking for the mandatory municipal authorization will be the current president of the Board of Brotherhoods, Manual Martínez.
The mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, will give her approval and will give them the "check" that contains the municipal subsidy to the processions, besides other types of aid that are provided through the work of the brigades and municipal employees.
At the cry of "Music and the Street" will begin a retinue that the sounds of the best known and popular Holy Week marches will announce the news to the rest of the inhabitants and will go to the Church of Charity where the usual offering will take place to the Patroness.
COURTS OF TRAFFIC
The Local Police has warned of the traffic cuts that will occur on the occasion of these two comitivas.
Starting at seven o'clock in the afternoon, vehicles will not be allowed at the intersection of Caridad and Gisbert;
and about nine o'clock at night in the access to La Serreta.
PREGÓN EL SATURDAY
The next significant act will be the proclamation of the processions, which this year will be borne by Ángel Julio Huertas, and the appointment of Mariana Larios as a major nazarene.
The proclamation will take place this Saturday, February 17, in the Isidoro Máiquez room of the El Batel Auditorium.
It will be at 20 hours with free admission, until full capacity is reached.
It will also be broadcast live on the internet through the municipal news channel of the City of Cartagena on Youtube and will have, as it happened last year, a more current format, since the speech of the town crier will be accompanied by musical settings and projections of pictures.
It will be the second year in which the proclamation will take place sufficiently early, at the beginning of Lent.
Until last year was celebrated on Friday of Dolores, when Easter Cartagena, the early morning of Spain, had already begun.
The interest aroused last year, in which the UPCT auditorium was too small, has led the mayor to propose its celebration at a larger capacity, such as the main hall of the Batel Auditorium.
