New marathon session in the Plenary Session of the City of Cartagena, which began after ten in the morning and has been interrupted at two in the afternoon to eat.
In its first part, the Corporation has unanimously approved two institutional declarations to request the equalization of the Civil Guard and National Police professionals with the rest of the local and regional police and the accession of Cartagena to the pact of the mayors for the climate and the energy for the year 2030;
and a motion asking the Autonomous Community for the removal of asbestos remains that still remain in the buildings of schools in the municipality.
The institutional declaration in support of the Civil Guard and National Police has had its origin in the commitment acquired by the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, with the union representatives of these two bodies, with whom she met in the Town Hall, and the motion presented in this same sense by the group of Citizens.
Its objective is that the Government of the Nation equips them in terms of salaries, hours, means and conditions of work to the rest of bodies of the autonomous communities and municipalities.
PACT FOR CLIMATE AND ENERGY
With regard to the climate and energy pact, this will involve the implementation of local action plans to reduce gas emissions by 40 percent by the year 2030, cushioning the effect of climate change and improving energy efficiency.
This will also allow access to new European aid.
The competence of these plans will correspond to the Government Area of ​​Public Services and Citizen Participation.
ASBESTOS IN SCHOOLS
Another outstanding agreement has been the approval unanimously of the motion presented by the PSOE in which the Regional Government is urged to urgently remove the elements containing asbestos from the construction of schools in the municipality of Cartagena, both in Education Primary as Secondary, according to the relationship presented at the time by the Department of Education and which has been reported by Councilman David Martinez, following a question on this issue of the CTSSP group.
RESOLUTION EXPRESSES THE WATER RESOURCE
With respect to the water contract and its rates, the joint motion of CTSSP and MC Cartagena has been approved, so that the Municipal Plenary, prior to the legal procedures and timely reports, may soon make an express resolution to the collective reinstatement filed in 2004 by a group of neighbors against the agreement of extension of said contract;
and in the case that the decision was deemed to be direct management of the service.
The vote has counted on the favorable votes of the two proponent groups;
the abstention of PP and Citizens;
and the vote against the PSOE.
OTHER INITIATIVES
The Corporation has also unanimously approved a motion by MC Cartagena for the Town Council to financially support the Racing Team of the UPCT;
while the municipal government has collected the PP's requests on the Juan Paredes de La Azohía square;
the increase of subsidies for Carnival, Holy Week and Carthaginians and Romans;
the enabling of intermediate stops on night buses;
investigation of minor contracts;
programming of lights and Christmas activities and improvement of lighting and asphalting in Puerta del Sol streets of San José Obrero and Tirso de Molina and Ciudad de Oran in Cartagena.
GOLD MEDAL FOR ANTONIO BERMEJO
Previously to all these questions the plenary session, chaired by the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, unanimously agreed the start of the process for the award of the Cartagena Gold Medal, to Antonio Bermejo Hurtado, better known as the "Worker Cure" of Vista Alegre, in attention to the "remarkable services" provided to the municipality of Cartagena through "its great labor and humanitarian demand", developed throughout its "intense and fertile existence".
Antonio Bermejo himself has been present at the plenary session and has received applause from the audience.
His candidacy was endorsed by the Cartagena Center Citizen Platform, which presented signatures of signatures of more than a thousand citizens, and the neighborhood councils of Alumbres and El Llano del Beal.
GALILEAS BALLS
Likewise, the plenary session unanimously approved the request to the Institute of Tourism of the Region of Murcia, for the declaration of the Regional Tourist Interest Party for the Pelotas Galileas de Pozo Estrecho;
given the fame acquired by this popular demonstration that neighbors have been developing, the day of his employer San Fulgencio, for almost 50 years now and that delves into the traditional values ​​of hospitality and joy that, despite his adversities, has always characterized the men and women of Campo de Cartagena
NOMINATIONS
The plenary also unanimously ratified the nominations of four streets, squares and public spaces.
The first of them, the Plaza de María Teresa Cervantes in the University District, at the confluence of Lagueneta, San Crispin and Lealtad streets, in tribute to the Cartagena writer and poet and recognition for her extraordinary literary and teaching career in Paris and Bonn.
The nomination had been requested by the Lucerna Cultural Association.
The second of the nominations has been the Calle del Trovero Ángel Roca, which has been assigned to a recently opened street that connects the old Plaza de López Pinto, now Plaza de la Puerta de al Serreta, with San Fernando Street. .
His nomination had been requested by various entities and associations of the municipality.
The third was located at the Ramón Alonso Luzzy Cultural Center, where the exhibition hall on its ground floor will be renamed the Carlos Gallego exhibition hall, in memory and tribute to the press photographer and reporter, who developed his professional career with recognized success. He died in 2005. This nomination had been requested by the Association of Press Graphic Informers of the Region of Murcia (AIG).
Finally, there was the Parque de Andrés Bernabé Ballesteros, requested by the Los Popos Neighborhood Association.
It is a green area between Cuzco, Monte Atalaya and Monte Ventura streets of the Alcalde de Cartagena and La Vaguada urbanizations, which will be named after this neighbor who created his creation more than twenty-five years ago and has been maintaining it ever since.
CULTURE COUNCIL
Among other matters, the plenary session has also unanimously approved the Regulation of the Council of Culture of Cartagena.
It is an advisory and consultative body with which it wants to give more participation in the cultural management to the representatives of the different sectors and agents of the cultural world, and that in its first phase of operation will have a prominent role in the preparation and approval of the Municipal Culture Plan of Cartagena.
This council will be structured through a plenary session that will meet at least once every six months and will be chaired by the mayor or person delegated;
and permanent artistic and visual arts work commissions;
performing arts;
music;
reading, books and libraries;
cinema and audiovisual;
cultural heritage and popular culture;
science and thought;
diversity and interculturality and transversality.
The rest of the first part of the plenary, until its interruption to eat, has been focused on the responses of members of the municipal government to the questions asked by the municipal groups to various questions of municipal management, which will continue in the afternoon with more questions and motions.
