This year's Senior Carnival gala was full of the usual laughs and colors.
Seven clubs of the third age from different points of the municipality participated last Friday 9th of February in this fun carnival afternoon in the celebration hall of the Lady of Gold. Some 250 adults enjoyed dancing and parading for hours at the carnival gala more veteran
María Martínez, 98 years old and from the comparsa La Vida de los Molinos Marfagones, was the crowned Carnival Queen of the Elderly.
Her enthusiasm and her love for the carnival made this veteran Cartagena to be the protagonist of one of the most special evenings of this festival of color.
The disguise of his comparsa was full of fantasy, composed of white wings with bright, dressed in fuchsia and white and an original makeup simulating the fairies.
Once it was crowned, María Martínez, posed under a shower of confetti with the Queen of Carnival, Finuchi Mante;
and the councilor of the municipal government, M.ª Carmen Martín del Amor.
The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, was also present at this event and took the opportunity to chat and dance with the members of the senior clubs.
One afternoon it was full of laughter, music and costumes designed and made by the participants themselves.
Pirates, clowns, Caribbean-inspired costumes and full-color fantasy filled the salon of the Lady of Gold in a very special day.
