Fifteen unemployed will specialize in caring for dependents, another fifteen in education initiatives for people with disabilities, and ten in gardening activities
The Ministry of Employment, Universities and Enterprise, through the SEF, has awarded a grant of 626,000 euros to the Agency for Local Development and Employment of Cartagena for the implementation of three programs that offer training and paid work experience to a total of 40 unemployed people from the municipality during twelve months, in the specialties of attention to dependents, educational integration of people with disabilities and gardening.
These mixed employment and training programs, focusing on initiatives of social interest for the city and its districts, will start next month and will continue until March 2019. All participants will be unemployed between 25 and 54 years old enrolled in their SEF Office , and that in addition they must have an itinerary of labor insertion established by their respective counselors.
Currently, the staff of the Office of the SEF of Cartagena is carrying out the pre-selection of the candidates, which will be subsequently referred to the Agency for Local Development and Employment for their final selection.
The objective is to provide qualification and contact with the labor market to people away from it, who usually lack accredited training.
Since the programs lead to the obtaining of a certificate of professionalism, this lack of qualification is alleviated and significantly increases the options of accessing a later job.
These initiatives will have theoretical training, but the practical phase will have a longer duration.
The first of the specialties is the socio-health care for dependents in social institutions, which will have the participation of fifteen unemployed.
During the program they will receive theoretical training in this area, to later develop a practical phase in Cartagena centers.
Once completed, they can obtain a certificate of professionalism that will enable them to work as carers of people with disabilities or dependents.
For its part, the second program focuses on socio-educational promotion and intervention with people with disabilities, for another fifteen unemployed.
The goal is that student-workers become familiar with the necessary resources so that people with disabilities reach the highest degree of personal autonomy and possible inclusion, through accompaniment actions, leisure processes, the use of new technologies and intervention in their family nuclei.
Some of the professions that can be performed by people who develop this specialty are those of social integrator, educator of people with disabilities, or monitor services to the community.
Finally, ten unemployed will complete the specialty of auxiliary activities in nurseries and gardens.
In this case, the program will allow the conditioning of green areas of the municipality.
After their participation, they will increase their options to be hired as horticultural peons, gardening peons or nursery laborers, among other positions.
Priority of access for groups with difficulties
The general director of the SEF, Alejandro Zamora, stressed that "our counselors select for these mixed employment and training programs people whose qualifications are far from what the labor market requires, and who need a certificate of professionalism. they not only need work experience, but also training and accreditation. "
Zamora recalled that "priority is given to the participation of groups with special difficulties in accessing employment, such as long-term unemployed, people at risk of social exclusion, or women victims of gender-based violence. unemployed a positive dynamic, and that mark the path to follow for a later insertion in the ordinary labor market ".
